PD vs. aPD vs. Chair of internship selection committee

I interviewed at a program where there were a variety of leadership positions within the residency selection committee. Anyone know the relative difference/weight each of these types of leaders (listed in title of thread) and their roles in ranking/selecting candidates? I ask because I have interviewed with faculty with these various titles.

Usually the program director is the decision maker with input from the other people on the committee

This is what is interesting to me. For those (fewer) programs where the PD interviews some and not others, you would think those who interview well with the PD are at inherent advantage compared to those who interview well with the aPD or even simply "core faculty".

I realize this can't be the case...but it seems uneven (having been in both situations).
