PDA advice

I am a 2nd year thinking about getting a PDA for 3rd year. I use Cingular Wireless and the new Cingular 8125 pocket PC looks pretty nice.

I know nothing about PDA's and am hoping for some posts that can help explain what is the knitty gritty for PDA service. I am not dead set on getting a PDA phone, but I like the convenience of carrying around one device for both functions.

If anyone loves any particular attribute about their PDA's, please list and try to be as specific as you can be. Thanks for all of the help.
And if there is a tech section, that I missed, sorry in advance.

Really, the only program most people ever use is epocrates for drug info. Archamedies is also a nice touch which gives you lots of formulas. Any PDA or Cell phone/PDA will be more than adequate to fulfil these needs.

The other programs like harriet lane, scutmonkey, 5 min clinical consult, or 5 min emergency med consult are okay, but realistically aren't very helpful.

The 8125 is nice if you are going to use cingular or t-mobile. If you use sprint or verizon, then the 6700 is the way to go.

The easiest way to make a decision IF you want a pda/cellphone combo is to look at it this way: do you want a cellphone with some PDA functionality or do you want a pda with some cellphone functionality. Typically (and I'm being fairly general on this), the former calls for the Treo 650 or Treo 700 (the windows mobile version is out now and the palm version is rumored to be coming in May), the latter calls for the 8125 or the 6700 (I prefer the 6700 overall, but it depends on which carrier you want for cell service).

Google each product for reviews. They are everywhere and can give you lots of good info. The major forums sites for those phones are http://pdaphonehome.com and http://www.howardforums.com
