Howdy everyone!

My friend and I can't seem to figure this out. How come PDA is a continuous murmur? I don't see how it would be continuing through diastole as there's no blood being pushed into the pulmonary artery?

In the absence of severe pulmonary vascular disease, the pressure gradient between the aorta and the pulmonary artery is present in both systole and diastole. The diastolic component may disappear in cases of severe pulmonary vascular disease.

Pulmonary artery systolic pressure 25 mmHg; Aortic diastolic pressure 90 mmHg.
Pressure gradient= 90-25
