So would it be illegal/wrong whatever to discuss how to get stuff like 5mcc, stedmans, harrisons etc. on the palm without having to pay for it?

Do you think it would be illegal/wrong to discuss how to shoplift books from your medical bookstore? I'm quite certain the types of discussions you're referring to are not welcome here at SDN.

I would ask around. Odds are someone in your class has a copy of some (like 5mincc and others) that don't need a key to run.

I didn't realize those palm programs required money! 😉

Seriously, most students share palm programs like they way they share their shelf exam books (I gave my Neurology stuff to my buds in exchange for their Family stuff). Ask your buddies or your residents if you can have a copy of their programs. Don't know if it's legal or not, but that's how most people get their programs.

I don't use a PDA. I find a pocket book is much faster and allows me to make annotations. But then again, I don't get to play Dope Wars during Grand Rounds.

I think it's much more like discussing how to share books, rather than stealing them.

InfoRetriever is a nice little program that includes a lot of 5mcc that you can get a free trial of. As far as I know, the free trial keeps working after it runs out, you just can't update.
