Is anyone else out there taking boards this October? If so, what are the resources you are using to study?

My plan is tons of PREP questions, Medstudy questions, and mainly using Laughing Your Way with the Medstudy books to supplement. This test is a bit daunting, and I feel like I have no good blocks of time to study with a new full-time job and a family. Am just trying to do an hour or two here or there when I can.

For anyone who has taken the boards fairly recently, any advice? How well should one doing percentage-wise on the PREP questions to have a good shot at passing? Thanks for reading this! 🙂

I took it and passed last year.

I would use one resource and know it REALLY well. I liked LYW.

For PREP, I feel like 75 percent is a good goal. That should put you in the ballpark.

The difference between PREP questions and the real thing is that PREP gives you way too many buzzwords and the info is detailed enough to rule out a long of wrong answers. The real test has shorter question stems with less info given which makes it harder to rule out wrong answers.

Thanks! That's helpful. I think I will stick to LYW... Medstudy books seem incredibly detailed and in reality I will never remember all the detail.

just to offer a different opinion. I absolutely hated the LYW book. I got about 15 pages into and thought that this was a waste of my time!
I spent my time on Medstudy books (got all the way through them reading and taking notes in a separate notebook) and I did 5 years of PREP questions, taking notes on the answers, and I printed out every single chart and put in a notebook that I reviewed.
I also went to the university of michigan board review course (I'm guessing it's already happened this year) and I was SO impressed with this course!
