i wonder why there aren't more forums for people applying to pediatric subspecialties. the medicine forums are hopping!

i'm applying for pedi heme/onc this year, wondering if anyone out there has heard yet from chop, hopkins or duke?

Cant answer your questions about interviews....but I will comment on the medicine vs peds stuff.

Probably has something to do with these 2 things:

1. IM residents outnumber peds residents by a good amount

2. A big majority of IM residents do subspecialties, whereas for peds it is much more of a 50/50 split, maybe even 60/40 favoring primary care.

3. The pay differnetial for IM subspecialties is easily double what a primary care doc would make. For peds, the pay increaes isnt that much. Hell I know several heme/onc academic faculty that make LESS than general peds (and they have a good clinical base too, not just researchers)
