At CMC in Dallas, two of the top PICU attendings are pedi anesthesiologists and one of them is also chairman of pedi anesthesia (Paul Sheeran). A pedi fellowship is ideal if you plan to do strictly or almost strictly pedi anesthesia.
Most contracts I have heard about are in the $350+ range even at the start with partnership money $400-$500+. The caveat is that most pedi guys have to work at a children's hospital and take all of the call that is commensurate with the hospital's size.
