Hey all,

Just learned that I matched today. Woohoo! I also happened to be following a pediatric cardiologist, which leads me to this question. I have actually been getting more and more interested in pediatric interventional (perhaps electrophysiology) cards. I was wondering if anyone has (or is...or knows more than I do about the matter) done a pediatric electrophysiology fellowship. What are the job prospects (they seem to be declining for the internal med folks), salary, etc. And what drew you to the field?

Thanks in advance!
DS

I did a pediatric electrophysiology fellowship a few years ago. Small field in the grand scheme of things but very rewarding. Job prospects are up this year compared to the past, but I think in the next 5 years or so more positions will come around due to increasing patient volumes as well as people retiring. Salary depends on where you go but since it is interventional you get a bump over a "regular" pediatric cardiologist. Almost all jobs are academically based.

Feel free to send me a message with any more questions.
