I'm starting my third year in the peds ED and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a book or two to use during the rotation to supplement my learning.

Thanks!

Textbook of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, by Fleisher and Ludwig is the best resource out there, but might prove a tad too much for a MS3, u can use it as a reference though. Also try looking at the Tarascon Pediatric Emergency Pocketbook, which comes in as a handy resource. Or another good option is to go through the pediatric section of Rosen's or Tintinalli's.

I like the text for the Advanced Pediatric Life Support Course (APLS): "The Pediatric Emergency Medicine Resource". A good middle ground between the megabook (Fleisher) and pocket books. Has a great concept in determining whether the child is significantly ill from the door (Pediatric Assessment Triangle).

Be sure you don't get the Pediatric Advanced Life Support text by mistake. Different course - PALS is just about arrest similar to ACLS.
