I did hear back from TX(1 program) NY(2 program), Chicago(1 program), PA(2 programs), OH(1 program) and I have not heard anything from MA and other areas. I am not sure how many program we should interview as I am in 3 rd year residency and have very limited Interview days.
Please can you guys update the state and from where you are getting interviews if possible.
Hey everyone. I was doing a quick search on pediatric endocrine fellowships... I am currently a PGY-3 med/peds resident: would any of you be available by DM to talk to about applying to pedi endocrine? I'm almost sure I will be applying next year.
It's been awhile since I've been on here, but I'm a current Endo Fellow. USA-med school grad
I applied to 19 programs, got interviews at 16, went on 11 interviews. I'd say 11 interviews was a little overkill, but many were geographically close.
Endo is great, best of luck.
Hey, thanks so much for the extra info!! Any tips for those of us about to start interviewing?
I found the interview days to be a little more tiring than residency interviews; most tend to be full days. Most departments aren't huge and they definitely want you to try and meet as many faculty members as possible, vs the handful in residency. Definitely talk to the fellows to see what type of research they do, how protected their research time is, how they handle call, and how their fellows clinics work. I would also ask about how the program funds research, those on T32 grants tend to have fellows that do more basic science research, and about support for research (statisticians, etc). Many programs offer MPH/research classes at reduced tuition if that is an interest. Ask if the program has specialized clinics (Klinefelter, DSD, Prader Willi, Bone are a few that come to mind). At the end of the day, you have to be honest with yourself: what kind of Endo do you want to be, what kind of research would you like to do, etc.
At the end of the day, 99.9% of Pediatric Endocrinologists are super nice and caring, but I feel like you find the place you fit and hope they feel the same way.
Has anybody heard from programs in Boston and in Manhattan? If so, when did you receive emails. Thanks
Hey it is now getting bit heartache I cancelled 3 interviews it was hard but I was not able to make it. I got one call today that also from one of my top option I dont know how to accommodate that I wish they would have send it earlier 🙁
So far I have liked all of the programs I've seen! Maybe I should follow my own advice. I got an invitation from a program that if I had gotten earlier I would have gone...
One program told me for 1 spot they were interviewing 18 candidates. I don't know what to think of that. I don't know how to feel about that. Surely it's better than residency but 18 is still competition!
Well here goes nothing...
