As I continue to explore fellowship options in the future, I would love to hear more about Pediatric PM&R. From what I understand, you can get into this from either of 2 routes: 4 years PM&R + 2-year fellowship OR Peds/PM&R 5-year combo program + 1-year fellowship. Some questions I still have about pediatric PM&R:
1) Is this primarily an academic inpatient PM&R job or are there outpatient jobs as well? If outpatient jobs available, are they in multispecialty groups or some other format?
2) Can you cover sporting events that are kids without a sports med fellowship with this peds PM&R fellowship?
3) I understand that procedure-wise you do a lot of botox and baclofen pumps, but do you still do any EMGs, Steroid Injections, Trigger Points, etc?
4) What are the bread and butter patients of the population?
5) Is there still a great need for more peds PM&R doctors?
6) When would you go to a pediatric PM&R doctor as opposed to a child neurologist?
7) Notable fellowship programs in peds PM&R?
