How hard is it to get a sub specialty of Peds, after residency. Also what subspecialty of Peds has the best lifestyle in terms of hours nd $$$$. Thanks for feedback.

Well, since you posted the same question in IM I'm guessing you're unsure of whether to do pedi or IM.

My rec? Stick with IM. There are NO, repeat NO good lifestyle AND high pay specialties in pediatrics. Don't believe me, check out the literature on this topic.

In IM, many fellowships are 2 instead of the 3 years of pediatric fellowship and although they (the IM specialists) will work hard during and after fellowship, not nearly as hard relative to income as in pediatrics.

Of course, if you love children and want to come to work every day caring for sick kids with complex health problems, then pick the subpsecialty you like the most and the rest will work itself out. If not, stick with IM.
