Hello,

Thought this would be a good place to post this. I'm a pediatric ophthalmologist looking at all of my loan repayment options. I was recently made aware of this program through our government and I'm interested in learning about it. I tried a simple google search but I'm not having much luck.

Does anyone know specifics, a website, or where i can find out more info?

Thanks - your's in pediatrics.

I'm not sure that this program actually exists.

There was a program with a similar name written into the Affordable Care Act, but my understanding was that it was never funded (which I guess is a pretty common thing and way to cut out certain programs with not a lot of support) or that HHS took the money and did other things with it.

I actually got really excited about this when the AAP sent out stuff for subspecialty day of action to reauthorize this program.

After much searching, I found that it was a program that was written into law in 2010, but never funded, and expired in 2014. So, contact your senators to ask them to actually authorize and fund the program.

The way it was written into law is that you could get $35K per year for up to 3 years of service as a pediatric medical or surgical subspecialist in an underserved community.
