I was wondering if anyone had insight as to what my chances would be of getting into a top tier (Hopkins) or a middle tier (PSU Hershey) peds residency. Any advice welcomed as well.
My #'s:
Ostepathic student top 1/3
USMLE 238/COMLEX 604.
All A's on rotations so far (no honors at my school).
Don't really have "ins" anywhere but plan on doing lots of aways.

Thanks for your advice.

I think your numbers are competitive at just about any peds program (won't be an auto-invite but won't hold you back either). My understanding is its important as a DO applicant to look at the program website, pull up the list of current residents, and see if there are any other DOs currently at the program to give you a feel for how open they are to DO applicants.

Good luck!

There is also a pediatrics forum (looking under residency forums) that might be helpful for these sorts of things. While I am an MD student, my understanding from my DO friends is that some programs are more "DO-friendly" than others. You find this out by looking at their list of current residents to see what they currently have. But your numbers are solid, I think you stand a great chance.

Check out the peds forum for more specifics 🙂
