How much does the typical pedo grad make right out of residency? I know it depends on where you get an offer in the country, but in general I mean.

Its the basic law of demand and supply.

There are much more pedo residencies than before: just do a search to see how many programs have opened (or expanded positions) in the last 10 years (more than 100 new spots): from 180 grads/year to 278 grads/year and they are still adding positions (that's an expansion of more than 54%).

No other specialty has seen such an expansion in recent times. This is unheard of.

Lets just hope that this benefits the patients. But the pie is not going to get 54% bigger.

But otherwise, the golden age of pedo is behind us.

That's ridiculous!!! The average pedo resident isn't going out and making only $500/day.

On a four-day week this only equates to $100,000 a year and we all know that ain't true. Many GPs get deals for more than this straight out of school. I'd have to say someone is providing you with misinformation. Pedos typically make way more than they are willing to let on.

can't honestly say, but the mills can offer 250k+. It is very frowned up though to work for a pedo mill. They do not use behavior management, and pretty much papoose and crown everything. It would be pretty counterproductive doing a residency to train you how to manage a child's behavior, and then work for somewhere like that. There's a reason they are staffed by general dentists for the most part. Just my opinion, of course.

Doesn't change the fact that we get 3 ads a week from people looking for someone to join them.

why do pedo make so much money? do they learn extra skills like sedation of little kids? if u look on the medicine side, pediatric surgeons and pediatrictions don't make nearly as much as their adult counterparts.
