hi

thinking about peds anesthesia, fellowship. is it worth it financially, and for education? ANY info is appreciated

No. Less pay, more stress.

The only lucrative fellowship in anesthesia is pain if you don't mind dealing with drug addicts. Everything else is a waste of time.

How about intraop TEE through Cardiac fellowship. I was curious since this is becoming ACGME approved this next year.

I wonder if you would be more in demand if you were to do an extra year of regional (although not a true fellowship). Where I'm at, the regional fellow will do blocks for two days a week, OR for two days as well as an "academic" day. He gets paid as 1/2 time faculty (>$100,00). Sounds like a pretty cool deal. I wonder how helpful that would be in landing a good job in those orthopod heavy practices located in desirable places in the country.

It MIGHT make you a better doctor. Doubt it will help you land a job.

Most people spend the early months of practice learning the vagaries of their particular job. Why spend a year getting paid a third or a quarter of market rates? They will probably do things differently at your chosen practice anyway.
