So, now that I've survived (perhaps even thrived) intern year, I've made it a goal to develop a reading plan for the next two years so that I'm not wasting opportunities to learn and prepare. What have y'all done, would or would not recommend, or wish you had done differently?

I've got the MedStudy books, have the PREP curriculum available, have book money to play with, etc...

And for the record, any replies of saying "don't worry about it until you're done" aren't helpful. I realize that's certainly an option, but I'd at least like to have an outline, even if I don't necessarily stick to it. As such, to force my hand, I made having a reading plan an actual listed goal with program director, so I have to develop it, regardless.

Hi-- I've posted this before on a similar board. The peds boards are a very high-yield preparation type exam. I never did well on any of my in-services (although I improved from year to year), and I studied my butt off in the following way and aced the exam.

1. Laughing your way to passing the peds boards- memorized
2. First Aid for Peds Boards- reviewed multiple times for holes that the laughing book missed
3. Zitelli read through X 2
4. PREP questions X 5-6 years

Of course, this was my formula-- but I did well with these sources despite starting a whole new residency (anesthesia) and working 60-80 hour weeks!

Good luck!🙂
