Hi everyone!

I was just wondering when you guys started getting interview invites in recent interview seasons. I haven't yet submitted my ERAS, but am hoping to this week or early next week. I kind of thought this would be OK timing, since I didn't think most interviews were offerred til like late September or October and that people interviewed mainly late November-January. Am I ridiculously off base? Extremely behind? Not going to match? (OK, the last one was a bit of hyperbole...) Thanks for your help!!!

I submitted on the 2nd...but no invites yet. FWIW...hopefully I'm not the only one sitting on zero!

But seriously, I'm sure you'll be fine if you submit next week. Good luck!

I can attest that you're not the only one. From what last year's class told me, interview invites range from the first couple weeks of September through at least October. A couple mentioned programs that didn't invite until they had the dean's letter in November. Anyway, no worried about not getting interviews yet--I'm sure we'll all be fine!

I received my first invite a few hours later despite lack of the USMLE transcript. I suspect my invitation was based on my AOA status, strong LoRs, &/or personal statement. However, peds interviews tend to offered much earlier (September, October) than other specialties. But it's better to have it polished and a little bit late than filled with typos and early!

Nope. I bet it was due to your humble personality.

I also got one several hours after submitting. However I am not AOA, nor did I have any LORs up yet... so the common denominators would be Personal Statement and submitting on the 2nd... not much to go by really.

I have heard rumor that some programs offer interviews to the first x applicants they receive. Not sure if it's true, and it seems kinda random and maybe a touch foolish, but I'm not a Program Director, so what do I know?!

In other news I had something akin to a mild panic attack when I saw the email in my Inbox - a positive panic attack, does that even make sense?

I ditto pp's sentiments that getting the ERAS app submitted early and sloppy is definitely inferior to a week later and nicely polished. I'm sure your ability to match or get interviews won't be adversely affected! 😉
