Peds
Started by DMBmatty08
my first day on IM was like that
same reaction with peds, my moment of knowing came from assisting in giving a shot
My first pelvic exam sealed the deal for me.
In which direction?
Yep, Peds and FP as well which was suprising because I thought I would like it. My supervising Fp attending has such a chip on his shoulder about being an FP it really turned me off and then there was the day to day grind...😳
Boo peds people! They suck! Oh wait. . . .
Seriously though, I think most people have been turned off to a specialty almost instantly. For me it was psych. And there's someone out there for every specialty. You are not alone in your experience.

Good one! 😀 👍
Let's just say my surgical internship starts in June . . .
Peds rules!
With that being said, we have a cleft lip/palate patient who is nice and quiet, but his bastard brother sits there screaming at the top of his lungs in a high pitched voice, and then runs out into the hall continuing to scream. He's done this at least 3-4 hours a day for the last few days. Today I barely stopped myself from strangling him. Tomorrow I'm seriously considering accidentally tripping him when he runs out screaming and giving him a REAL reason to scream....

Peds clinic was fun. Hated sick kids in-pt, but that wasn't the problem. I didn't like the "culture" of Peds. The residents and attendings were . . . well, let me be polite and say we didn't click.
I've got a 2 yo little boy, so thank God for pediatricians, but no way I'd ever do it

I kinda liked all of it. That's probably why I became an FP. 😉
Yeah, peds kinda of bewildered me at first too. I liked it by the end, but maybe it was because I was feeling more comfortable with the material. Got sick of doing well-child exams though. I like taking the easier way out and appreciate when patients can tell me a little more about what is going on with them...
