What are the peer review journals that give the most credit for an ERAS application (please mention some examples as i don't know many), also how many pubs do you consider enough for you to be considered a strong applicant?

Zero. Publications are not that important for residency. Letters of recommendations are by far, more important that publications. Candidate 1 with 5 publications, but terrible letters or Candidate 2 with no publications but great letters. Candidate 2 would be ranked higher (extreme example, but you get the idea). Now if you are an MD/PhD student, then that's not true. Zero publications wouldn't look to good.

Any publication, first author is better < in journal related to your desired field < in a leading journal in your field < JAMA, etc.

Cheers!
