I use a 13 inch dell laptop I bought in mid 2014 before starting school and it has held up really well so far. Some students use IPads, but they are definitely not my style and are kind of slow at times as mentioned before. Even if they came with Apple Pencil, writing seems like it would be hard - Notebook and a pen is much better in my opinion. If you have the funds, I would suggest maybe buying a MacBook to access Apple applications we sometimes use with the IPads, but even then, I don't know if it would work. I personally like the 13" laptop size bc I need to lug around my laptop and IPad to class. A few of my friends use window surface laptops
