Hi everyone! I was placed on the waitlist for Penn Dental and just wondering if anyone has insight into what the chances are of getting in? Is there anything I can do to better my chances of turning this status into an acceptance?

Additionally, because it is mid-March, is it safe to assume the class must be full? Has anyone else been placed on the waitlist for this cycle and either received an eventual acceptance or even rejection?

Sorry for all the questions! I'm new to SDN and looking for advice/support from fellow pre-dents 🙂 Would appreciate any insight!

When did you get placed on the waitlist and did you receive through mail or email?

When did you interview?

Waitlists do move. The second deposit is due April 2nd this year - expect movement after that day. You could always write a letter of intent to demonstrate an interest in the program. Goodluck!
Ah, okay, thanks for the advice!! Fingers crossed I hear good news after April 2 then 🙂 And congrats on your acceptance!

What were your GPA and DAT scores? just wondering because I will be applying this cycle.

No sadly I have no acceptances so I might have to reapply

At least two of my classmates had Penn as their only acceptance. Approach reapplying from a realist's perspective but don't lose hope!
Disclaimer: They had impressive profiles, so their acceptances here were not a fluke. If you're Penn-worthy there's always hope :hardy:

u of t🙂 hopefully the waitlist actually moves! I haven't seen many people from my interview day mid february even receive a response yet either

Good luck at U of T!! Excited for you to start your dental journey!!! And dang really??? I wonder how many actual seats are still up for grabs and how many people they're placing on waitlist... sigh

Wow!! I'm surprised that a number of individuals who receive interviews (and then potentially also receive an acceptance) at Penn do not receive more interviews/acceptances from other schools. Do you happen to know much about Penn's waitlist? Any advice?

Mostly, from what I heard, it was a case of applying really late and not a case of applying early only to hear crickets lol. I honestly don't know anything about Penn's waitlist except that it does move. On the site I've seen people in other classes get accepted off of the waitlist as late as mid-late May. I haven't come across anyone in my class who was waitlisted though. Most people have said they got in right at December 1st or (if a later interview date) 2 weeks after they interviewed.

Ah okay. So between now to mid-May, there's definitely still hope? :nailbiting:

It really varies between years, last year no one got off the waitlist, the year before 8 people did, but if someone drops their spot or doesn’t pay their second deposit, you’ll be considered.

Gosh, 0 to 8, such a range... 😢 Did you happen to hear back yet?

Did your email specifically say you were on the waitlist? I received an email recently that asked if I was still interested in attending if a spot becomes available. However, no where does it say that I waitlisted/put on a waitlist...

I received a letter in the mail - zero email! Your email didn't say anything about waitlist/alternate status?
