Well since there seem to be two different messages on the status page of people with "Tier 1" waitlist:

1) "The Committee on Admissions has a very strong interest in your application, and you will be considered for admission very early in the waitlist process. This is an exciting time and you have many decisions to make. We hope you remain interested in Penn."

2) "The Committee on Admissions has a continuing interest in your application and we hope you remain interested in Penn."

So it seems logical to revise the poll, accounting for these two different messages. Please vote if you have been placed on the waitlist by Penn (even if you voted in the previous poll).

I have the exciting time message. Is this a good sign, or is it random? Have they used similar messages in past years to stratify the waitlist?

penn med, you naughty little minx
2 days ago i had a dream that you waitlisted me, and now you've gone out and done just that
given my username, i feel like sending them a letter saying 'i know it was you fredo...you broke my heart'

but here's to hoping!

I know SDN doesn't have the best sampling conditions...BUT...

It really looks like:

Tier 1 w/generic message = Tier 2.

Except there is at least one vote for Tier 2, so Tier 2 definitely exists. 😎

Yeah your right, there is one person (on both polls) that is on tier two...

From last year's wait list thread, it appears that the exciting time message meant top of tier one (but below people who were invited to preview), and the generic was bottom of tier one. However, I don't know if that still applies, or if this distinction was ever confirmed. May be we should have another poll in the summer after the wait list movement for future applicants...

Does Penn accept more students than the size of their incoming class? If they don't, it would explain why they have an "all but in" category.

anyone know the answer to this?

yes, they accept more than the class size would allow

bump...anyone else wait listed by Penn? Please vote!
