What is the story about Penn Ophthamology? Penn's other departments are usually top 10 in the nation, or even sometimes top 1 or 2. Penn's ophthamology seems not even to be ranked in the top 20. Is it just that Wills is overshadowing Penn in the Philadelphia area?

Ophthalmology Times does rank Scheie in the top 20 for best residency programs and for best research. US News and World report does not for some reason. I think it is a great place to do your residency, but you're right in that Wills is the more overpowering clinical program. But Scheie is great if research is your thing; my impression is that they like to recruit MD PhD candidates.
