I had an interview with Penn two weeks ago, but I need to know what decision they have made as soon as possible, (if they have made one yet)..

Would they tell you your status if you call them? has anyone called them regarding final admission decision? Also, is two weeks (after interview) too early to bother them about this? How long should I wait?

Thanks for any input.

sounds pretty early to bug them about it.
We all are going crazy waiting, sit tight!

i just got a letter in the mail for acceptance... so they are probably starting to send more out

i guess it really depends on the applicant. my acceptance letter was postmarked 10 days after my interview and got here after about 12 days since the interview..

Seriously? you got into Penn with a RC 15 and Bio 18?

Just proves that some schools don't have any cut-offs for a particular section of the DAT. The rest of his application looks pretty good...congrats!

Yeah congrats DaNuch on your Penn acceptance. But looks like you've already committed to Michigan. Smart move as you'll be owing only ~120k as opposed to 350K if you were to choose Penn.

I don't think it's too early to give them a friendly call. I think they're very understanding of the fact that you might have to get back to other schools and would like to know their answer.
They sent my letter out about a week after my interview, but before I left my interview, I asked them when they'd be able to notify me, so that might be why they got back to me so quickly.
Good luck!

did you get into Penn? looks like you got into UMDNJ as well. Any thoughts on which one you'll choose?

Obviously dent2009 is trying to justify his non-acceptance to UPenn by grossly overcalculating the difference of tuition between Michigan and UPenn...

Going with the 2008-2009 estimated total expenses of attending either school posted on the school's websites...Michigan comes out to ~$290K for out of state, and UPenn comes out to ~$330K

I haven't gotten my acceptance from Penn YET but don't worry, i'll be turning it down as soon as I get it. Besides I don't want to be associated with a pretentious name ***** like yourself, which we've already established in previous threads.

back on topic...it doesn't hurt to call Corky Cacas and ask her about your acceptance status. 2 weeks is more than enough time for the admissions committee to make a decision...some people get accepted literally 2 days after they interview. good luck everyone!

Haha. I'm sure you can reed and rite just fine. Just surprised how flexible Penn was though it looks like other parts of your app was good in comparison. anyways, you sticking with mich or you switching over to the "dark" side? hehe.

Ceriously Dude! Looks like i got 8 months to learn to reed! haha 😉

I'm not defending whlee's somewhat ridiculous affection towards Penn at all... I agree its grossly apparent. However, you make yourself look shamefully ignorant by denouncing a school because of his future affiliation with it.

I attended an ivy league undergrad and know of Penn quite well enough to "denounce" my affiliation with it as you put it, not only due to whlee's, but many other "elitist"-minded individuals that i've come across that enter and come out of those type of schools. I don't know about you, but I like humility in an individual, especially in a doctor.

I interviewed on Jan 16. I gave them a call on Jan 29th and asked if they had made a decision yet. I was transferred to Corky and she told me that I had been accepted. Penn is my top choice and I'm definitely going to go there.

I was offered an interview at Penn today for sometime during the month of February. I have already been accepted to Temple (out of state) and put my deposite down. I am definitely extremely interested in Penn, but am wondering your thoughts on the price difference. Is it worthwhile? Penn was always my #1 all throughout college until the day I toook cost into consideration. I will be paying for either school completely on my own.

What's the tuition difference for out of state? ~20K? So tuition really doesn't come into play here as much then. So what are you looking to be? If your heart is set out on GP or you don't think you're cut out to specialize, stay away from Penn (told by several dentists), and go to Temple. If you wanna have a better chance at specializing, go to Penn, not to say that you can't specialize coming out of Temple if you work your ass off/you're a genius.

Check Penn out. You're from Jersey so going to interview shouldn't cost too much. Just don't get caught up in all the technology (Simlabs, etc.) and "pampering" to lure students in.

Does anyone know how Penn is doing December 1st acceptances this year? I heard in a recent thread that they will be calling/emailing....but everything I've read in the past has been snail mail. Not to mention I am pretty sure that's what Corky said at the interview. Can't remember. Anyone know for sure?

They will come from snail mail, I'm pretty sure that's what Corky said.

Thanks. Is it your #1?
