No. Go to Pitt. It's also a great school from what I hear.

hey! i go to psu too and had a hard time choosing between the 2! i just had a better feeling about penn and seemed to connect with the students there. the panel of students at pitt seemed really random and i just couldnt see myself going there. if you are in state, the total costs are about 288 for penn vs. 216 for pitt, which is a decent difference but not as much as i had thought it would be.

I didn't apply to penn, but for what it's worth, I loved pitt. I thought it was the best place out of everywhere I interviewed. You will get many different oppions since most students only get one day to look around and decide... and it's the feeling you get on that one day that counts. I got the best feeling at pitt --even better than I did at my own school's dent. program. Apply to both, and go to the interviews, only then will you be able to make a knowledgeable decision. In the end, it's a personal choice anyway.

Best of luck!

Just my 2 cents, but I have to say that I think Pitt is way better. Penn is more expensive because it's private, but you are also paying a bit for the name.

When I interviewed there, I just didn't feel like I felt at Pitt. Just kind of felt like everyone was a little stressed out, a little overworked at Penn, and that basement that the 1st and 2nd years studied in kind of freaked me out. While everyone at Pitt was so friendly and accomidating to the students, everyone seemed laid back and happy to be there.

But then it comes down to hwo you feel at both schools....if you're deciding solely on money, then go to Pitt. If you want the name and prestige, then go to Penn.

Good luck deciding.

I did not interview at Penn. I have a friend at Penn and the main thing that he talks about is the cost of the school. But I cannot speak from first hand experience. I interviewed at Pitt and will be attending there come this fall. One of the main reasons that I chose Pitt over the other schools that I was accepted to was for the simple fact that people were happier there than at Case and Oklahoma. Who wants to go to a school where hardly anyone is happy to be? I would rather be somewhere that the students love being because let's face it, we are going to be at school a lot!!!!! The attitudes of people around you have a direct affect on your attitude. But that is just what I think.

Right now, I'm headed to Penn but all that could change. There are still 4 schools in Canada/US that can perhaps change my mind that I'm waiting on. Those are Harvard, Buffalo, University of Toronto and Uof Western Ontario.

If Penn's tuition was about 30-35K, then it would be a pretty sweet ride. But paying 55K without living expenses is A LOT, for any school beit Penn, Harvard, or wherever. If you can get into a much cheaper school, then go. That's what I would do. Especially if it's in your hometown/state school and you also want to practice there. You'd have to be nuts not to go.

That being said, I really do think Penn give's you one of the most complete educations out there. All the doors are open. It may not be the strongest in any one area, but the program is strong in most, if not all areas. However, that still doesn't justify paying the hefty price tag if you can avoid it.

Now, if I do end up at Penn, I'll be proud to call Penn my school. But if I end up at some "no name" school, I wouldn't care if the average person never heard of it. I'd just laugh all the way to the bank 😀
