Do you guys check and satisfy every schools requirements? It seems like each school has different requirements besides the general year coursework of chem, ochem, and physics. There are also differences in letter of references requirement.

Do you guys make sure you guys satisfy all requirements or are just applying to many schools?

I am applying to 15 because I want to start somewhere and I satisfied all the requirements. I have a Master's degree and this is my second time applying.

I didn't apply to 10 schools, but for the 4 schools I applied for, I made sure I satisfied all of their requirements.

They will review your file only when it's complete. If you do not have the correct reference letters, your file will not be looked at.

If you do not finish your prereqs in time, you will not be able to matriculate, even when you've been accepted to the school.

So if someone didn't do their research and just applied randomly to schools, they'd be burning money.

I applied to 16. I had to cross a few schools off like Midwestern whose requirements I didn't meet. If I get an interview at my dream school, UCLA, I'd have to take an intro to psych class...big whoop

I thought you don't need to have all the pre-reqs complete when you apply. You only need to have to finish them when you matriculate?

This is correct. I think in most cases you should be able to fit in whatever you are missing prior to matriculation anyway, unless for some reason you are missing quite a few biology courses for schools like Florida who want Microbiology, Genetics, and Biochem.

so true...i only applied to 4 schools also, with these facts in mind. i wasnt about to waste all my hard earned money on schools just for the sake of applying. i made a huge list of schools i was interested in then narrowed them down based on "requirements" like necessary courses (that id already taken) gpa, oos acceptance percentage and location. then i actually went back through the list and tried to come up with several legitimate reasons for why i was choosing them, outside of just playing the numbers game. this knocked a bunch of schools off my list, for real.

lol all i kept thinking was coming up with The Blank Face if i got invited to an interview and was asked "so...why OUR school?"

but hey if youve got the money to blow and want to play the numbers, just apply everywhere!! thats gotta work for someone.

Yeah, I regret this strategy. I applied to too many and now I can't possibly attend every single interview. It is nervewracking...hindsight 20-20

it might be an exception, but I got an interview at Indiana with only 2 academic letters. They're just requiring me to submit one before matriculaiton.

man I remember reading intro PSY as a prereq for UCLA. It sucks!! but hope you get in there bro

My mom is a professor at a college so taking it would be free, so I'm not worried if I get in there and have to take it next semester. I am guessing an intro class will be pretty easy compared to some of the heavy hitters we've all had to take lol

This is my first time applying and I applied to 20 school. I already have 11 interview offers and I am going to have to decline some. I can't afford to go to them all 🙁 I think I am going to shoot for 10 interviews. I heard there is roughly 30% chance of acceptance once interviewed.

The % chance of being accepted depends on the school. I know NYU said earlier this week when I was there that the chance is 50%.

this is wrong. I know some matriculants who have NOT completed one or more requirements and successfully started their semester without a sweat.

reaaally now?!

some of these schools lie like a RUG in that freakin' student handbook and/or online, i swear! you check the stats on predents and their respective websites to find one thing, then call (or APPLY and get interviewed) to find another! lies!

this is good for me though, as im definitely missing a "requirement" for my state school. maybe if i play the alma mater card and wear my school hoodie to my interview, theyll overlook it. 😀
