Does anyone have any experience with how this goes?
If someone gets an interview offer with a later mailing date than you, does that necessarily mean that yes, the school looked at your app and is not interested and therefore do not get your hopes up about interviewing with them or possibly get waitlisted.

Or could you still get an interview soon afterwards for whichever reasons and not to take it too negatively?

If you have previous experience with this situation or know the result (interview offer/ rejection) of some of other applicants in the past,
please share your insight.
Thanks!

Seriously, that's the million dollar question. I would love to know that answer myself.

I would love to know why, but I fear they just pick at the pile till they have sifted all the way through it. Essentially, if your app is there when they decide to interview, there is no advantage to being the first one in the pile (I think).

I also think this pretty much shows that submitting "early" is not all that advantageous compared to what a lot of people on here think.... A ton of people are obsessed with being the first ones submitted in the very first batch thinking that it will help them. It might, but it does not seem like it. I think as long as you submit withing a reasonable amount of time your set. (I understand that is different for each person).

For those still waiting on interviews: Good luck! 👍

Imo mailing date is to generic, though we all use it to compare ourselves with each other. For instance i was in the second batch 7/4 yet my DAT was not taken and sent until 7/29. Also how quickly we complete our secondaries and deliver payment to the schools is much more accurate then just our mailing date.

For the schools that give application complete emails, this is the best way to compare ourselves in the cycle... imo.

though knowing the steps admissions goes through would be nice. course saver (chads videos) has some nice videos from UoP admissions explaining the process i recommend everyone watch to get an idea of some basic admissions processes and what schools look for. (please see the link below) take space out of link

i wonder if they try to have a balanced group of interviewees for each day. i find it hard to imagine they would interview every applicant with a 21+AA and 3.5+ GPA all on the same day and then just move down the scales from there for the rest of the interviews. but, then again, maybe this is just how i rationalize it when other people get interviews before me....

There's so much that goes into it and it can be frustrating. But I wouldn't read too much into it yet just because your application was first. It's still early and your rewards will come.

In regards to applying early, I'm a fan of the early application. Some people are fanatic about being in the first batch while others swear it doesn't matter. Each school has their own way of doing things and we will never know. But the one thing every school tells you no matter what, is to apply early. Maybe it did mean nothing because DAT wasn't done or letters took a while or a secondary wasn't complete. But we really don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes. When so much is on the line I would rather be an applicant that heeds their warning. If it comes down to a decision between me and another guy, maybe my early submission and quick turnaround with my secondaries will show for something as opposed to someone who just didn't submit because their DAT wasn't done or took a month to return a secondary. We obsess about dates. They can see all the dates too.
