just spoke with PEPID customer service person...
According to him, there are no plans in the future to change the downloadable format for drug interactions and the calculator on the blackberrry or iphone.

To clarify, you will still need a wireless connection to download these 2 components of PEPID to your blackberry/iphone. However, if you were to use a palm, you would not need to download either of these components and thus no wireless is required, as the entire PEPID program is "native" to the palm.

I spoke to another customer svc. rep, who said that PEPID does foresee those 2 components (ie drug interaction and calculator) becoming native to PEPID for the Iphone/BB like it is for Palms. However, he could not give me a timeframe for when this would be implemented.

I just got an email from PEPID saying that native (no need for wireless connection) support for interactions is in the new update currently available in the app store.

I haven't downloaded it yet but will give a report as soon as I do.

I can't imagine that support for the calculators isn't coming next.

Now all they need to do is spiff up the user interface a bit and support landscape mode (damn, we iPhone users are needy) and we'll have a world class app.

Just got it downloaded. I ran it while on airplane mode and it runs as advertised.

Just got an email from them saying that you don't need Wi-Fi to access the drug interactions. Downloaded the new app and it's MUCH faster than the old version. Hooray!
