What would you charge for a per diem rate reading thyroid FNAs (one thin prep slide, one pap stained smear, one diff quick smear, good quality)? What about for paps?
Would you charge by time or by the case? If by case, what would you charge per case?
2019 Medicare reimbursement for FNA ~ $155, for paps, I think ~30? So maybe collections are 80% of that (at best).
I have malpractice covered, no need to factor that in, would be paid on 1099. I'm one of the few who like these types of specimens and want the work, but want to be paid a fair rate. Some I have talked to get paid more on a hourly-type bases, rather than per case. Seems like I could make more $$ if paid per case. This would only be about 5 hours of work/week.
TIA!
