Just a little confused here. First number is applied, second interviewed, third accepted, fourth matriculated? For example:

Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Admissions

Total: 3,430 (applied?) 664(interviewed?) 398(accepted?) 251(matriculated?) In state: 547 284 231 156
Out of state: 2,883 380 167 95 Women: 1,609 194 180 115

Thanks Littleg1225,

That is a great summary. If you don't mind.. where did you get this from.
Just so we have a source to reference.. if we are asked.

Thanks again.

-I found this information on a previous SDN post. I believe they got it from US News. US News still has it available for $14.95.

-And yes you have the format correct.

-As for CCOM and LECOM the previous post didn't have the info either...

I'll tell you right now NJ's in state/ out of state is WAY OFF.

and your question is... that is correct

im from out of state and would like to get into UMDNJ. are the stats for out of state better or worse? is it harder for out of state than the numbers reveal? thanks.

the stats say .. that 1 out 3 are from out of state... what is the risk you are willing to take... well more like do you have the time and money to apply to NJ.

Wait...500 are interviewed at DMU and 463 are accepted..WOW...so if you get an interview you're basically accepted? I wonder what you have to do in your interview to not be accepted?

I hope its true, I am interviewing there next Thursday!! 😀

Well tell me how it goes. I got my first interview today and it's from DMU. I interview there on 10/7. I was checking on flights and wheewwww....it's expensive to fly from Houston to Des Moines. But hopefully it'll be worth it. good luck!

Thanks, Littleg, for posting that information. 👍

P.S., do you know how recent this US news report is?

Those numbers are either wrong or very depressing. Especially for my in-state schools. Unless being waitlisted is represented as an acceptance in those statistics. I interviewed at four schools last year:

KCOM - 47 37 (79%)
UHS - 46 44 (96%) 😱
TOURO - 221 92 (42%)
WVSOM - 148 81 (55%)
Total - 462 254 (55%)

...and was waitlisted and not accepted for each one. 👎 However, I eventually received an "Early Acceptance" from TUCOM-NV, 👍 😛 which ironically had the worst odds of me getting accepted. I don't know how that would be counted either. Anyway, I hope I'm not horrible at interviewing. The only way, that I can think of, that I would of hurt myself in the interview is by telling the truth (for example "Do you plan on practicing in WV?"....not in these words but, "Uh.. hell no.") I did not BS once. Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter now.

...and was waitlisted and not accepted for each one.

I'm sorry, I did not understand how you know the numbers are wrong. If you have proof that the US news report is not true, I'd certainly like to see it.

I did not say I know the numbers are wrong. Look at the statistics posted for interviews and acceptances. This should make things easier for you to understand.

No, its just your post that I didn't understand, the statistics were easy to follow.

I guess what you were saying was that you found it hard to believe the stats in US News were correct as you interviewed at a variety of schools but were not accepted anywhere. If these stats are true, then apparently you were one of the minority who were interviewed but not accepted. Oh well, you have an early acceptance this year, while the rest of us have to wait and sweat.

cardiotonic,

If you don't mind me asking, when did you apply (early or late)?

Very late, near the deadlines.

I think this was a post from last year now that I look back....Which unfortunately would make them 2002 stats...??? I found it under "pre-allopathic" So I apologize if it is not current. I just thought it was interesting to see some numbers. I haven't purchased the US News report myself, but I do know it is still available. As I underdstand, the schools reported to them what the stats were. There were MD schools too, but I just copy/pasted the DO schools directly from the post. 🙂

That explains it. You were competing for less slots, thus your experience did not reflect the actual interview/acceptance ratio.
