I'm trying to figure out when the perfect time to take the DAT is. If my application will be going out in the 1st mailing, when should I take the DAT to be sure that the scores get to the school at the same time the application arrives?

When I was calling schools about supplementary info. most of the schools said that they don't recieve anything from AADSAS until about the 3rd week of June. Anything mailed directly by me would have a better chance of getting lost if they recieved suppl. materials before my app. I've been told that DAT scores only take 1-2 weeks to arrive at schools after you take it. So... I think that if your app. went out on the first mailing you should take the DAT anytime between now and end of June.

I think as long as you take it before the end of July you are fine. Mine is scheduled for the middle of July. GL

Is it a good idea to take the DAT after sophomore year? or should i wait until the end of my junior year to take it?

only you know when you're ready for the DAT. just make sure you're prepared.

Last year the first mailing went out the 8th of July. I took the DAT on the 9th of July, and everything arrived around the same time at the dental schools. Case Western and Arizona seem to be some of the quickest schools to offer interviews and I interviewed on the 1st day of interviews at Arizona and in the 1st week of interviews at Case. If this year is anything like last year, you should be fine taking the DAT sometime in July. I wouldn't wait until the very end of July however if you want to get a really early interview.

It seems like you should take the exam before september,
but what if you were going to take it in october?
Would that put me at a really bad disadvantage?
The websites say you should submit apps by dec or january though..
help!

Its not bad bad idea if youve completed all the courses needed for DAT prep this was the material is fresh

I'm a Junior (finished sophomore this spring) and going to take the DAT in about a month. I was hesistant on whether I should study the DAT this summer but I'm glad I did since the materials were still kind of fresh. I realized that the materials the DAT cover is pretty basic and looking at my friend, knowing upper-division material could sometimes make you confused since the details that you learn from UD class conflict with what the question is asking for.
