Perio vs OMFS

just throwing this out there, but how would the prep differ for these two specialty programs? Are the academic requirements less rigorous for Perio (in terms of class rank)? Is the material tested on the ADAT different than the CBSE? Couldn't I do research that overlaps both fields - dentoalveolar surgery etc
 
If the material didn’t differ would they be 2 separate tests? No offense man, but if this is the kind of question you’re asking you need to go do a lot more reading and get into school before you start 6 more threads. There are hundreds of old CBSE and OMFS threads with tons of good info in them.
 
Yeah they're pretty much the same thing. If you are at a school with an omfs program, you should go ask some of the faculty why they spent 6 years getting a degree when they could do they same thing with a 3 year perio degree. I'm sure they'll clarify any questions you might have.

But couldn't they have done it in 4 years, not 6?
 
Perio does not exist in the West Coast.....so it just depends what coast you live in.
 
What kind of research is there in OMFS?
