Hello. I'd like your educated opinion concerning a wierd occurence. I had a miscarriage last...SEPTEMBER !!!..and my period right after wasn't normal. I spotted and had a light flow up until Jan, then I was heavier than ever before for that one time. Ever since then the time between period is getting shorter and shorter. This happened before. I miscarried a few months before and got pregnant as I 'backed up'. Sorry . No other word for it. So it comes a couple of days early q month. Flow normal, 4 days, no cramps bla bla bla. Has anyone heard of this? Is it just my body going back to a normal cycle? I'm baffled. I'll be going to my gyn...just no time right now. Thanks for your thoughts. I wouldn't normally ask this sort of thing so thanks for any feedback 😀

be patient, medical students may be on this everyday, but residents and higher only check in once a week or so.

im sorry to hear about your miscarriage, after pregnancy its normal to have irregular periods for the first few months.

while some variation month to month is normal, large variations month to month is typically a sign of "anovulatory" cycles.

i have no idea what "backed up" means, and your efforts to explain unfortunately didn't help. i think that may be the reason no one took up your post.

your obgyn's tx will most likely depend upon your intentions regarding getting pregnant in the near future. the gyn may want to run a few test to rule out the usual suspects of menstrual irregularities (ie TSH levels). if you arent planning on getting pregnant, they would probably suggest OCPs. if you're hoping to get pregnant, they might want to wait a few more cycles to see if things even out on their own.

i hope this helps.

First..thanks for responding.

By backing up..I'm referring to the length of time between periods. My normal cycle was every 28 days staring on the first of the month. I lost the baby on the 28th of the month. Since then my periods been getting closer and closer to the first for example: September 30th, Oct 30th, Nov 30th, Dec 30, pretty stable but light periods..THEN...Jan 28, Feb 27 ,March 26, April 25 etc....Its like my body is trying to go back to it's normal time of the month and I was wondering how common this is.

I did get pregnant during this 'backing up' phenomenon after a previous miscarriage (which are explained now) so I'm not too worried I'm not ovulating. Its just getting annoying. We won't be trying for a baby for a while now BTW. School just doesn't mesh with kids IMHO.

Thanks. I hope this is clearer.
