Has anyone taken the ASA’s PeRLS (Perioperative Resuscitation and Life Support) course?

What are your thoughts on its utility and educational content?

Retaking ACLS every couple years is of pretty low educational yield for an anesthesiologist. Apparently some hospitals allow this as a substitute for ACLS.
 
The majority of it would probably be pocus i would imagine? Is there anything else?

Unfortunately that requires lots of hands on probe time. 50 100, 200 studies it never ends.

A weekend can crack the surface but it requires dedication and a steady stream of patients with pathology to identify with someone to guide you. Aka cardiac anesthesia

Nah, no POCUS at all. Imagine an ACLS course that you can fast forward through in 10 minutes if you wanted. It’s a watered down ACLS course with lessons on LAST and MH.
 
Is that the new name for what they used to call A-ACLS (Anesthesia ACLS)? I took that back in 2014, and thought it was better and more applicable than regular ACLS. It had MH, LAST, bradycardia from peritoneal insufflation, and other random topics that are mostly just seen in our area. I think taking either every two years is dumb and unnecessary, but it was an ok use of one-time CME funds.
