Personal Statement Advice!

Hello!!
VMCAS has switched from the 3 essay prompts back to one personal statement essay starting this cycle! I thought it would be a good idea to start a conversation where we can ask each other questions, and hopefully have past/current students share any advice they received when writing their personal statement to those of us who are applying this year

Maybe @Lupin21 could merge this with the VMCAS 2026 thread? So that all the VMCAS info is in one place?

When I applied, the prompt was one big essay rather than the three essays. It's honestly not that much different as the three essays were very similar to each other. I'm honestly not surprised they switched it back and don't even really understand why they split it up in the first place.
