Hello,
I am applying to MA programs in Clinical Psych with an emphasis in Marriage Family Therapy in hopes of becoming a licensed MFT (I live in California).
My BA is in Theater, but I have taken and done well in General Psych, abnormal, developmental, and statistics. One of the schools only requires developmental and abnormal; the other is Pepperdine, which requires no prereqs or BA in psych for its evening program. Neither requires the GRE for my GPA (3.95).
Does anyone know what they might be looking for in terms of personal statement and letters of rec? I am familiar with the different theoretical orientations and believe these school match my own, and my job experience is working with students one on one and in groups, but I am not sure how specific they expect applicants to be about the field, given that they do not require a psych background.
Does anyone have any insights?
Thank you!
