Personal Statement as PGY-1

I'm a PGY-1 in an EM residency program that wants to switch specialties. When applying to programs in ERAS, should my personal statement be written to reflect this, ie I thought I wanted to do EM but now I realize what I really wanna do X? Or should I avoid that whole aspect til the interview and have the personal statement be more like a traditional intern applying to the match or even a med student?

I think it would make sense to explain why you are trying to switch in the personal statemnent.
