Personal Statement creative writing style

Anyone wrote theirs in a creative format? I wrote one last year but I kind of don't like how dry it sounds. I had an attorney edit for me. Yes, he was a relative so it didnt cost me anything. But their writings are always so bland. Anyone write theirs in a story format and got accepted or positive responses?? I mean it spells out everything but it's done in a narrative and not just an essay. I used to get great reviews from all my English teachers for my writing but then again they are English teachers not admissions officers.
