So I finished PA school about 6 months ago and thought i could convince myself to be satisfied with the PA scope of practice despite my life long dream of becoming a physician. When I went to PA school, I was thinking with my head- not my heart. My head said that the financial, time, and emotional commitment of medical school wasn't worth it but oh how it was wrong. It came to a head when I had a patient interaction where I couldn't do the thing he needed because it wasn't in my scope of practice.
In any case, now I have to take organic chem 2 and the MCATs. I'm only 3.5 years out of undergraduate studies but that's still awhile since the basic sciences. My GPA at an Ivy was 3.6 (though I took several classes pass/fail and have evaluations stating I would have had an A in those classes) and my gpa for pa school was 3.8. My goal on the MCAT is 30 or higher and I'll be taking it in May
I'm working on writing a personal statement and I'm not sure what to write about- initially I wrote pretty much what I wrote above and went into the patient scenario details but I'm not sure if that's what they're looking for...suggestions? Thank you! Also, the reason I'm doing this "so early" is that my undergrad institution requires this to write the committee letter and i have to have it to them by February which will sneak up on me.
