I am IMG right now and am working of my PS for ophthalmology fellowship. I am having difficulty what to right and what not to write.
I am planning to go back to to my home country and practice ophthalmology there.....is it OK to state that on your PS or is it going to be held againt me 😕

Is this a pre-residency or post-residency fellowship?

If it is pre-residency, I doubt it could hurt. From the perspective of a fellowship interviewer, some claims of plans to return to a home country are more believable than others, and I am surprised at how easily some interviewees will make these claims when the prospect of their actually doing what they say is so implausible. If you don't really intend to return, don't say that you do. If you do, then you should be prepared to give details of your plan.

Generally the same also applies to people from the USA doing fellowships here.

Sorry I dont know the answer to your question. However I really would like to ask you one, if thats ok!
I notice you are an IMG doing opththalmology. I thought that was unheard of, Im an IMG as well.
Did you do something out of this world to be accepted? I was planning on doing one year of research in ophthalmology before applying, I have a good step 1 score 95, will do ck and cs soon, but Ive been told its virtually impossible to get into ophthalmology as an IMG, so now I dont know if its really a waste of time to do that research year, if its so hard to get in anyway. What is your experience?
