Hey everyone, would love to get advice on this.

If I'm applying for integrated child programs and regular programs with intention to eventually do a CAP fellowship, should my personal statement answer "why child psychiatry" instead of "why psychiatry in general"? Is there anything else I should be mindful of when it comes to ERAS?

I did "why psychiatry" in general, then added a silver of a sentence or two about CAP.

If you want, you can upload two different personal statements - one for psychiatry in general where you can briefly mention your interest in child psych and one more focused on child psych with maybe some specifics of what you’re interested in child psych - and assign them to corresponding programs in ERAS (FYI you can also assign different letters to different programs). You don’t *have to* do that, but given how few spots are available in combined programs it makes sense to show your commitment. On the other hand, general psych programs will be happy to hear about your interest in child psych but it doesn’t help if you give an impression that you have a one track mind, ie that you’re interested in child psych and nothing else.

ah that makes sense.

if i'm applying for both an integrated child position and general position at one site, would I be sending the "why CAP" to the integrated child application part and the "why psychiatry" to the general application part? Or just send the "why CAP" to cover apps for both integrated/general applications?
