I have asked almost every single user on the OP's proofreader list to read my statement. Only one person has responded, unfortunately that person had many exams in the near future. If there is anyone on that list who is still willing to actually help, please let me know...

Sorry, most of us are in the 2nd semester of our 1st year. After realizing how much time it can take to do the job justice, I actually took my name off the list. For instance, I'll have a quiz Monday and Friday, test next Tuesday, and it just keeps getting uglier from there. How soon were you planning on sending it in?

it's that time of the year again (or coming up) where the designated proofreaders will be flooded with requests to critique personal statements..

i'm willing to help out a bit by requesting to be put on the proofreaders list. a couple of people on this forum can vouch that i'm not a scammer 😱

I'm assuming you mean PS. 🙂
It depends on how long you usually take writing papers, and how much you want to proofread. It varies per person.

I started mine in late June/Early July. I rewrote it twice, and had about 10 people look over. I didn't work on it all the time, but I wasn't completely satisfied with it until August.

Start working on it as soon as possible. Even brain storming, outlining, and writing down things you want to include will help.
I would suggest writing a draft, and getting people to edit.
Don't be afraid to rewrite it, if you need to. Sure it takes time, and it's sad to have spent a long time writing a draft to just throw it out. But it's important and worth it.

Figure out what you want to convey first, then worry about how you want to introduce it. Making an outline might help.

I'm sure I can speak for most of the proofreaders on this:
We are around finals time, so please be patient with us if you would like us to look over your paper.
Some of us may not respond to a PM, your email, or get back to you with the PS until after the next few weeks are over.

For those that are wondering:
Yes, I am still accepting statements. And you may PM me for my email address, and then send them to me as an attachment. But I will not be reading any of them until after finals (next Friday); which means that it will take me about 2 weeks to get back to you with my suggestions. If that's ok with you, go ahead and PM me! 🙂
