is it okay if i write about my sorority experience in my personal statement

im in an asian-interest sorority which is not like the stereotypical ones you see in movies, we focus a lot on community service, philanthropy and cultural diversity and through my sorority i've developed leadership positions, organized and hosted events, volunteered in the community and more. i won greek leader of the year from the entire school's department of fraternity and sorority life last year for my work in the community

i know writing about being in a sorority may came off taboo but wondering if i frame it correctly, it would help me make my story stand out more

There are no rules that prohibit you. As you mentioned, it is a service organization, and you should be sure you mention that in your work/activities. But it is up to you to find a way to weave it into your PS or other essays.

It seems like it would be important to include these valuable activities in your application. Focus on how these activities have helped others and how you have grown as a result of them.

Should it go in your PS? That depends on what other topics you have to discuss and which would be most appropriate. It also depends on whether it relates to your reasons for wanting to become a physician.
