I'm working on my personal statement right now (I tend to work well under short deadlines, don't judge me 😎) and I have a bit of a problem.

I'm mostly rewriting because my last idea wasn't working out so well. I realized that jumping straight from early childhood to college experiences doesn't make much sense....except that it does, because I don't have any animal/vet experience from before college. I wasn't allowed to work or volunteer if it wasn't for school. My mother was threatening to cut off the little funding she provides when she found out I got a work study position last year. I don't know how to properly explain my development without it coming off as highlighting my lack of experience. Also, because of aforementioned dilemmas, I can't go the whole "omg look at all the instances that have built up to my attempt at this veterinary thing", it's just what i've always wanted to do. How do you explain your love of endangered species when it doesn't really appear to have developed, but has always been there?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Explain how your love for vet med / endangered species was rooted at a young age and then just explain what experience you have. I also am in a similar situation and I skipped from childhood to my recent work in the field. The childhood stuff goes to show that this love of yours didn't just come out of left field - it was always there in one capacity or another (regardless of whether or not you were working in the field)

Hope that helps!

Good luck!
🙂

Yeah, I guess that's the only thing I can do. Thanks 🙂

Now that I'm mostly done I realize that I'm already over the character limit! 600 words over and I haven't even got a conclusion. Geesh.
