this might be a dumb question but with eras opening in 5 days my nerves are kicking in so i apologize in advance.

Alright so the consensus so far is that adding a little paragraph as to why you want a surgical/medical internship to your primary personal statement is a good idea...however my primary statement is sitting at exactly 1 page. Adding a paragraph to it is going to put it at a page + 1 paragraph...i know its "only" a prelim but i didnt want to count myself out of an interview based on PS length. Stats otherwise are pretty competitive but once again...its that time of the year and i dont want to drop the ball after bustin my tail for 3 years. Thanks in advance for any replies....

I've had this same issue. i'm shooting for a competitive specialty, and the concensus on that sdn board was that you don't need to change your personal statement at all for prelim/TY apps. I might tweak mine ever so slightly, not axing the last paragraph, but just changing it, rather than adding a whole new one.
