hello,

i am planning on applying this summer and wanted to get some stuff rolling. regarding the personal statement in the primary application, what exactly is the prompt? ive heard several different things and am looking for clarification.

You really need to explain the GPA of your in the personal statement. While your DAT scores are stellar, <3.0 GPAs are really frowned upon. You need to explain what caused those bad grades and what you did to fix that in your post-bacc program. However, I wouldn't write my entire personal statement about this. But you should address this... as the GPA will be the main thing that will hold you back from getting admitted.

I think you have a really good chance of getting into a California dental school. Although your gpa isn't that great, your gpa for your post-bacc is really good, DATs are really solid, and you have done research at UCSF (which is a great Dental school 🙂). Community service is definitely a plus, and if you have leadership positions and solid hardcore dental experience, your in a good position.
