hi,
i'm working on m personal statement..part of the prompt says "how the Doctor of Pharmacy degree relates to your immediate and long-term professional goals. Describe how your personal, educational, and professional background will help you achieve your goals."

my question is that do you guys state clearly in the personal statement that which kind of pharmacist you want to be? clinical or retail or something else? i mean when they ask you "your immediate and long term goals" does that mean you should state what kind of pharmacist you want to be? i really want to know what everyone is doing regarding this..i really appreciate your help..thank you

Your immediate and long-term professional goals isn't necessarily just your career position. For example, maybe you are interested in golf. (I know, wacky example.) Maybe your long-term professional goal as a pharmacist is to research medication that help golfers relieve the arthritis in their wrist joints. Or, perhaps you are interested in the study of the Inuit people. Maybe your immediate professional goal is to be able to travel internationally to promote the health and research the well-being of the Inuit people and their anthropological relatives. Whatever your goals and interests may be, you can talk about.

These examples were designed to demonstrate that your goals can be anything you want them to be (also to not provide usable examples so that not everyone copies them and uses them in their PS). They're frankly very unrealistic....but still possible.

thank you so much! i really appreciate it!

I stated a few specialties I potentially like to pursue after pharmacy schools. The real point of that question for PSs is not that you have decided on a particular pathway and will stick to it forever. The point is that you researched all the possibilities in pharmacy as a part of knowing what the pharmacy profession is all about. Some slackers are like "uhhh, there are different types of pharmacies?" that really reflect on their poor research in the field that casts doubt on their motives and desire to enter the profession.
