Personal Statement Question

Hey guys, I want to ask for an advice. I have my personal statement ready, but hesitate to send it (to SUNY). I wrote why optometry mentioning that I want to give back to community after I received so much help coming here as an immigrant. I showed examples of how I already did by volunteering etc. I mentioned about my research, and my desire to continue by getting MS, basically typical statement without any special catch. Did anyone get in with similar statement, or does it have to be really exciting with a nice story? Any reply will be helpful, thank a lot in advance.

And do you guys think it is late to apply? My GPA is 3.6 and OAT 350, my statement is the only thing that holds me back.

With a 3.6 and a 350, you shouldn't have too many issues applying right now. Make sure to get your app in soon though. Statement does not need to be a movie script, just need needs to reflect on you as a person
