I've been through many different experiences in the dental field, varying from shadowing many different specialties to volunteering at my school's dental center. 50% of my passion for this field was formed from these experiences, but the other 50% was really the influence of my father. He really made me interested in the field from a very young age and this is a huge factor in why I am applying to dental school now.

Would it be too cliche if I involved my father's influence in my personal statement, along with all my other experiences?

Add him in there if he helped you on the journey. There's no right/wrong way to do a personal statement.

Of course you should include it. He is your mentor in the field. You are not alone in having parent dentists.
